World - ibis team
In 2020, we’re delighted to be back with a new year of ibis MUSIC, and it’s set to be even bigger and better! We’re proud to announce the launch of our ibis MUSIC 2020 featuring headliners from Sony Music, over 100 up-and-coming acts brought to you by the magic of Spotify, a global finale at Montreux Jazz Festival, and a unique music workshop, where our up-and-coming acts will be mentored by a team of industry experts. It’s set to be an incredible year and we can’t wait to get going after the overwhelming success of our 2019 campaign.
The Story So Far…
In 2019, we launched ibis MUSIC, which featured four major headline acts from Sony Music’s unrivalled roster playing a series of exclusive shows in ibis hotels around the world. Boulevard des Airs (France), Tom Grennan (UK), Lucas Lucco (Brazil) and OK KID (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) all performed unique, intimate gigs to fans more used to seeing them play to thousands in arenas.
But ibis MUSIC in 2019 wasn’t just about the superstars, for this globe-spanning debut we also hosted 89 up-and-coming acts across 44 shows in 17 countries, all hand-picked in collaboration with Spotify. Nine acts were then selected by our team of judges to perform on the Europe Stage presented by ibis at the legendary Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary. For many, this was their first chance to perform on a stage of this size, but all of them showed why they are so highly regarded by stepping up to deliver incredible performances.
Following Sziget and after six months of non-stop live music, it was announced that Madrid’s Maria Yfeu was the up-and-coming winner of ibis MUSIC. Yfeu’s rich and warm jazz-influenced vocals, commanding live personality, and talent for writing classic-sounding songs way beyond her young age were the key elements to her success. We were delighted and privileged to have had her involved in this inaugural year of ibis MUSIC.
ibis MUSIC was all connected right here via ibis-music.com, with exclusive videos of every band, interviews, and personally-curated Spotify playlists for every mood, and it’s all going to be back for 2020.
